ASKIDA EKMEK

ASKIDA EKMEK, which means “bread on a hanger”. ‘Bread on a hanger’ is a practice copied from the Turkish culture encourages people to buy loaves of bread and pay a little extra money so that the baker could afford to offer free bread to the poor.

In Turkey, the concept known as ‘askida ekmek’, which means bread on a hanger, was supported from Ottoman times to ensure no one went to bed hungry.

The practice of this tradition is very important as it feed any needy people who doesn’t have money to buy bread.
